One minor point: in your second to last paragraph, "he knew that Manasseh would be greater" should be Ephraim.

This passage is seen as important for a number of reasons. The fact that Paul survived the serpent poison was a fulfillment of the prophecy in Mark 16:20 that God would "confirm the word" as it was given by the apostles with those signs. And here, we have the statement (commandment) that the Gospel should be preached to "every creature" in the world (verse 15). One could go on but these already serve to demonstrate the importance of the ending of Mark's Gospel.Andrewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03466078139557295311noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6346409181794331060.post-47454481964215634192023-03-07T21:05:45.513-05:002023-03-07T21:05:45.513-05:00What is significant about Augustine’s testimony is...What is significant about Augustine’s testimony is that even though he works off a Latin translation of the Bible in his works, in several places you find him going back to the meaning of the word or the phrase in the Greek text and in doing so he reveals that he is aware of textual variants in the Greek text. He used the long ending of Mark countless times in his works and not even once he mentions that the text is missing in some Greek copies available to him. He is aware that the woman caught in adultery is missing in some copies but not a peep about the long ending of Mark that he used extensively in his works.Demianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03098425683385627645noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6346409181794331060.post-75446219858084415202023-03-07T09:55:43.294-05:002023-03-07T09:55:43.294-05:00Thanks James for this insightful and informative b...Thanks James for this insightful and informative blog.Joel Metzgerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07732397987221299823noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6346409181794331060.post-59926586167594573302023-03-07T06:49:02.459-05:002023-03-07T06:49:02.459-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.Demianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03098425683385627645noreply@blogger.com
